Homeschool Mother's Journal (9/19 - 9/23)

A glimpse of a homeschooling mom's week #homeschool #hs

I thought it would be fun to join this link up with The Homeschool Mother's Journal.  Here is my first post.

In my life this week…

Isn't it funny how much you can do in a week's time yet when you try to recall it all, your mind draws a complete blank?  Am I the only one who has to really think hard before being able to come up with an answer?  This week went by pretty smoothly, although I remember Monday was just one of those days when I really didn't want to teach school. I dragged myself through it. Do you ever have that kind of a day?

In our homeschool this week…

I learned that my kindergartner prefers to work with the magnetic letters when teaching him how to read rather than reading the words out of his lesson book.

My 10-year-old son wrote a lovely note letting me know how much he appreciates me.

Helpful homeschooling tips or advice to share…

Don't disregard your child's thoughts pertaining to his education.  If he's having constant difficulty with a particular subject, find out if there is another method you can use to help him learn it.  Involve him in the process so he feels a sense of ownership, therefore inspiring him to learn.

I am inspired by…

God and my children.

My favorite thing this week was…

I actually have two.  Reading my son's note and seeing the movie Dolphin Tale with my children.

What’s working for us…

Our science curriculum, Exploring Creation With Zoology 3 - Land Animals of the Sixth Day is working very well as far as having a curriculum that can be done with both a 5th grader and a Kindergartner.  It not only holds the attention of both children, but it's also written in such a way that each child can understand it at his own level.

I’m reading…

Raising Real Men by Hal and Melanie Young.  (I'll be writing a review on this book soon.)

I’m grateful for…

For my husband, my children, and God's grace.

I’m praying for…

Friends and family suffering from cancer or cystic fibrosis.

"Us Moms can't remember everything!" I think I'm still in denial about this. LOL!
