Originally entitled as Winsome Womanhood by Margaret Elizabeth Sangster in 1900, Beyond Beautiful Girlhood Plus Companion Guide is written as a mother/daughter seven-week study.
The study requires that you read one chapter a week, either together or individually. Then you answer the Mother/Daughter questions individually, writing your responses in the journal sections located in the book. Together you will discuss the answers you deem important, and read your journal entries. There are also Bible studies which you do individually, and then come together to discuss.
The book is divided into seven chapters:
- The Girl of Thirteen
- A Daughter at Home
- The Girl and Her Friends
- Her Innocent Pleasures
- Her Books
- Higher Education
- Her Occupation
- Mother to Mother: offers encouragement and goals
- Journal Questions: provides opportunities for discussions
- Bible Study: uses scriptures to support each topic
- Projects: presents enrichment activities for mother and daughter to jointly perform
- Resources: supplies a list of reading materials and reproducible forms
I love that this book provides the daughter with an opportunity to get to know her mother as an individual; and provides the mother with the prospect of being able to open a door into her daughter's thoughts. Because of this, I highly recommend this book.

ReplyDeleteIs your homeschool pie low in sugar? (LOL) Love your blog, and I would love to win Beyond Beautiful Girlhood! My daughter is 13, so the first chapter caught my eye.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sue
I always use raw honey in place of sugar so it may not be "low" but it's definitely healthier! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI would like to win this! I have 2 lively preschoolers, 1 boy and 1 girl.
