How Homeschooling is Helping My Children Become Friends

I began this homeschool journey with one simple purpose in mind; that my children would know and love the Lord.  I am thankful to God for so many reasons; I'm especially thankful that He put this desire into my heart because not only are my children building a relationship with Him, but they are also building a relationship with each other.

One of the benefits of my children being homeschooled is that it provides them with the time needed to invest and grow in their relationship with each other.  My desire for my children is that they will be best friends.  Being that they are five years apart, it is my opinion that were they not homeschooled, they would have had to work harder at building their friendship due to the limited amount of time they would have spent together.

Does being homeschooled keep my children from bickering?  I wish I could say yes.  However, what I have noticed is that my children, especially as my 5-year-old matures, are spending less time arguing and more time playing together and talking to each other.  I see their relationship growing and it's happening right before my eyes.  I consider this a gift from God.

  1. Yes, that's a wonderful benefit! My girls are only 11.5 months apart, but they'd still be separated from each other all day if they weren't home. Sure, they bicker, but they are each other's best friend - and even admit that. Right now, they're outside having a blast with each other. As it should be. :^)

  2. Thank you for visiting my blog - and yes! yes! My 5 year old and 7 year old are playing together more than ever and I am so thankful that they are home to build this relationship!

Those are the kind of moments that make a mom's heart smile. :-)
