WonderMaps - A Timberdoodle Review

When Timberdoodle offered me the opportunity to review WonderMaps by Bright Ideas Press I was ecstatic!  After learning about its many features, I knew that this was one product we HAD to add to our homeschool.

WonderMaps is an excellent addition to your geography, Bible, and history studies.  It is divided into four categories: maps of the world, maps of the USA, historical maps, and thematic maps (including biblical maps). Plus, if your family uses either The Mystery of History or All American History, WonderMaps includes the complete map sets from each entire series!

My son's curriculum this year includes an abundant amount of map studies.  This program has been a "life saver" as all the maps he needs are located on this one CD.  It actually includes over 350 different maps.  Now there's no need for me to spend hours on the Internet searching for the map we need.

I also use WonderMaps to print out maps to use along with my Bible study.  Not only are my children benefiting from this program, but so am I!

I love the fact that it is very simple to use and that it allows me to teach Geography to both of my children at the same time although they are five years apart.

Description from Timberdoodle's Website:

WonderMaps is designed with easy-to-use layers that allow you to enjoy great customizable features with just a click.  You can select:
  • historical or modern-day maps
  • outline, reference, political, or topographical maps
  • black-and-white or color maps
  • features including:  names, borders, rivers, cities, physical features, and graticules
It includes:
  • 60+ maps of the world
  • 60+ maps of the USA
  • 125 historical maps, including 25 biblical maps
  • The complete map sets from The Mystery of History vols. I–III and All American History vols. I & II
This will work on both PC and Mac but does require Adobe Flash Player 9.1 which you can easily download from Adobe's website.

The tutorial below does a great job at showing you how to use the program.  You'll be happy to know that you can access this tutorial from the CD itself:

My 5-year-old loves coloring his maps. I have my 10-year-old label his.

The cost for this program is $44.95.
